PROJECT GOAL = $10,500

$460 Raised To Date!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay exists to do one thing: help children succeed in life. They’re able to do that by providing caring, screened/trained and supportive adult mentors. Volunteers (Bigs) are paired with children (Littles) in long-lasting friendships. They spend time together, whether working on homework, enjoying sports, or just hanging out. Volunteers are encouraged to stay ‘matched’ with their Little for at least one year, but the longer they stay together, the bigger the impact:

•    Littles do better academically and socially

•    99% of the Littles stay out of the Juvenile Justice system

•    96% are promoted to the next grade level.

Donate a small amount and Big Brothers Big Sisters will host a grand event honoring 5-year volunteers’ determination and length of service.  By donating a certain amount, you will also receive admission to the event to see what it means to “Bigs” and “Littles” to be part of this great organization…

The link here will take you to more information about our joint efforts.  Please raise the bar AND the funds!  That’s the spirit of crowdfunding…you give a little and we all get a lot in return…

Need Funding? Ask a Crowd of People!

Funding is one of the toughest areas a new business owner must tackle, whether as a creative, as a for-profit, or as a non-profit charity.

However, there is another option that is beginning to take hold since President Barack Obama signed the Jumpstart Our Business Start-ups, or JOBS, Act on April 5: crowdfunding. That refers to a network of people willing to pool their money and resources to establish funding for a start-up.

Crowdfunding began in the music industry when musicians needed to find sources of funding to get their music recognized online.  The musicians shared their projects online, created emotional connections with their fans, provided a targeted amount of money they needed to raise and gave a deadline by which they needed to raise it. Then, they invited all of their fans and connections to view the project and contribute.

TheMoneyCrowd Explained…Behind the Curtain of the Name

What does TheMoneyCrowd mean, how did it get its name and what does it do?

Simply put it is The organization that gathers Money from an online Crowd for the benefit of local charities and community projects.

That’s it…it’s the Robin Hood of the Internet!

The purpose of the site is to build an online community of philanthropists looking to donate to specific project needs in the community, mostly focused on charities who have seen their budgets cut in these economic times.  Local projects partner with TheMoneyCrowd to post their projects on the site, get assistance to promote via social media and highlight their cause using video streaming, and then get plugged into local networking events for maximum personal exposure as well.

TheMoneyCrowd bundles social and personal networking with an online tool to collect donations.

It also got its name because every other cool moniker for a website involving “crowd” or “crowdfunding” was taken on GoDaddy.  ;-)

Hannah’s Homeless – St. Pete Winter Drive – CLOSED SUCCESS

PROJECT GOAL = $2,500

100%

PROJECT FUNDING ENDED NOV. 16, 2012  — $2,515 Raised!

PROJECT IS FULLY FUNDED, BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO DONATE PLEASE EMAIL US!

Hannah’s Homeless focuses on helping our local homeless population.  We provide for homeless people in and around downtown St. Pete., Florida by passing out food, clothing, blankets and needed hygiene items.  Our goal is two-fold: First, we provide immediately needed items, working towards building trusted relationships within the community.  Second, we work with a core list of local resources to assist people with finding solutions that are more long term. People need to feel safe when they come to us to get information about local shelters, job fairs, detox centers and other sources of help…when they’re ready.  Our Board members have all known, either first hand or from loved ones, the struggle of homelessness and/or addiction.  It is a labor of love calling us to be of service, and our long term goal is to secure a building downtown to be a drop-in center and a safe place to come eat, clean up, find clean clothes, use a phone, get info and ask for help.

The goal of this project is to get off the ground with a strong start for the winter season, with needed a storage unit and food!

  • We need to obtain a climate controlled storage unit to keep donation items (clothes, blankets, toiletries and non-perishable food items) organized and stored safely
  • We are planning for our big Christmas run to provide as much food, hygiene items, blankets and clothes as we can to offer critical comfort and safety items during a time of year that can be hard for so many

Last year at Christmas we went out and saw more needy women and children than we had seen all of the previous years put together!  It made us sad that we had no toys to offer. It was some comfort to know that 1 woman who had 4 boys was able get jackets and burgers for each of them. The boys were so excited!  We gave that mom the biggest care package we could and believe that it made the holiday just a little easier.

We are looking forward to having another year of providing at least that same little gift to as many individuals and families as we can find and feed! We really hope that this year we will have enough to even share the left over items with some of the amazing local shelters!

By donating to this campaign, you will enable all of our goals to become reality.

Thank you so much for being part of this heartfelt mission.

Rewards and incentives for donating:

$10 – a shout out on our Facebook page.

$25 – shout out plus a personalized Thank you card from Hannah’s Homeless.

PROJECT FUNDING ENDS FEB. 15, 2013

Your donation will make sure each child who spends a holiday or their birthday at Tampa General Hospital receives a gift and a celebration to make their stay a little happier…

This year there will be children who must spend holidays and birthdays in the hospital because they must receive chemotherapy or other serious care.  Because of your donation to this cause, each child will receive a birthday complete with gift, a decorated door, cake and a party!

In addition, each child that stays at Tampa General during Christmas in 2013 will receive gifts from Santa, and special Christmas Eve pajamas!

The ChildLife Playroom in the pediatric unit is a place where children can escape to play games, watch movies, and interact with other children.  It is truly a place where a kid can be just a kid…with fun, toys and giggles.  Doctors cannot wear their white coats or treat their patients in the playroom, making it a true escape for all the little patients.  This project helps that cause by providing an atmosphere for these kids where even in sick times they can feel right at home on any special day!

PROJECT FUNDING ENDS June 9, 2013  — $800.00 Raised To Date!

Your donation below will fund the purchase of children’s books that will be used by R’Club in their summer camps.  NOTE: Every $1 you give will be matched by PNC BANK and BB&T up to $2,000 each!!  This is a great way to assure R’Club meets their goal!

R’Club provides full day preschool, before and after school, and extended learning programs for over 30 years!

With summer near, and over 800 children coming, they need to provide “Summer Bridge Activities” books for kids in their summer camps.  Your donation will help buy those needed books for when summer camp opens in mid-June.  The best way we can give these children something to read and smile about when they come to camp on June 17 is by raising the money to supply these books, so we need to a strong showing of donations in order for all the students to get books!

With your helpful donation we can reach our goal, which goes toward giving a summer long experience to children all across our neighborhoods.  With your added ability to promote this cause via your social networks, your dollar goes even further.  It’s easy, effective, and a great way to spread the word about a meaningful cause…raising money for children to learn over summer!  Please share and email this page to your friends.

Crisis Center Tampa – Kid’s Trauma

PROJECT GOAL = $2,520

0.00%

PROJECT FUNDING ENDS November 21, 2013  — $0.00 Raised To Date!

This project will fund scholarships for children to receive trauma counseling.  Costs for one counseling session with a child are $90.  That is for one person, for one hour.  Typically when a child comes to our facility for help, they do not stop counseling at their first session.  On average, it takes 12 – 14 sessions per child.  However, when we treat a child, we also treat the family.  Therefore, for a family of two (minimum) the cost is $2,520 to receive 14 sessions.

Please consider donating $90 for a child in need to receive one counseling session, or fund a family to receive counseling!  We see hundreds of families, so there would be no shortage for needed funding, and currently we actually have to turn away people because they have no insurance and cannot afford our minimum fee for services.

Crisis Center is that extraordinary place where every person who is going through a serious life crisis can find the help, support and encouragement that they need to solve their problems and make tomorrow a better day.

With your helpful donation we can reach our goal!!

If your company matches donations, let us know below…if you have time to give as a volunteer, also let us know…and if you have books to donate, definitely let us know!  Please give, and we thank you…

Rewards and incentives for donating:

$25 - A personalized, hand-written “Thank You” card!

$50 to 75 - “Thank You” card and a shout-out on Facebook to recognize you individually.
